Following observational studies in over 1.000 patients with visual field defects caused by optic nerve damage, glaucoma or stroke in Russia two clinical trials were carried out in Germany with patients suffering from partial optic nerve damage.
These studies were conducted at the University of Magdeburg with independent confirmation at the Neurology Clinic of the Charité University Berlin with a total of 58 patients. On average, patients improved their vision by 36% with a clearly positive effect on everyday life visual functions. Treatment led not only to significant visual field enlargements and visual acuity improvements, but also to physiological changes of the brain.
Specifically, brain wave patterns as measured by EEG showed permanent, positive changes: fewer slow brain wave bands and more rapid alpha-brain waves. In another study, 30 stroke patients with speech disorders (aphasia) were treated with EBS leading to significant recovery of language comprehension and production.
The total number of treated patients with the EBS NEXT WAVE™ technology today is > 1.100.
